This was our 1st visit to this On Inn.
The Fickle Finger of Fate pointed at me, so I had better throw a few words together in response. Despite discussion at the beer stop about using AI to write essays etc, I can guarantee that Artificial Insemination played no part in assembling this drivel.
Two weeks ago we hashed in the aftermath of Storm Bert. This time we had barely said adieu to Storm Darragh, but it takes more than high winds and heavy rain to dampen the enthusiasm of LVH3!
Fortunately the weather for this r*n was fine (almost) and not too breezy. We even had some very welcome sunshine to enjoy.
The first obstacle to overcome was the closed road, yes the very same road we were meant to be parking alongside. Ready About messaged to say we should ignore the signs, as nothing untoward seemed to be happening. Ignoring signs is something the hash can do in its sleep, but we were then warned by the other Hare to obey any signs on the hash itself, on pain of excommunication. Further warnings about hasher-swallowing shiggy were given and mentally filed away, and we were off!
There followed some picturesque trails across fields and through woodland; over stiles and down lanes. Some of the paths were new even to Lurch, which was a turnup. He famously has been everywhere, man!
The Rambos were starting to feel thirsty and almost diverted into the Wheatsheaf in Beetham, but luckily spotted the beer stop first. The Wimps arrived a few moments later, well some of them did, showing some successful route planning by the Hares.
There followed more lanes, fields and paths, more checks and splits, and a lot more shiggy! Everyone survived, and again arrived back more or less together. A swiftish circle admonished the Hares, and served up DDs to three unlucky hashers as punishment for misuse of WhatsApp, countered by another for the RA for exceeding his brief! Big Fish copped it for a transgression dating back many months. The memory of the hash can be surprisingly effective when it wants to be.
The GM so enjoyed inflicting shiggy on his merry band that he instigated a scoring system for this and future hashes, to rank them for their degree of shigginess. He even promised a prize for the winning Hare(s)!
On! On! to the pre-Christmas r*n from Fiddler's.
